Get There on the Selmon Greenway: Arts and Culture Season Is in Full Swing!

The City of Tampa has a deep devotion to the arts with plenty of ways to experience the soul-nourishing power of arts and culture. THEA is a long-time supporter of the arts, hiring artists to incorporate public art into many of our projects and properties. If you take a walk along the Selmon Greenway or the Brandon Parkway, you’ll find murals and sculptures inspired by our Tampa community that embody the region’s spirit. You can also use the Greenway to connect to the Tampa Riverwalk and some of the best spots in Tampa for arts and culture. Here are a few of our favorite picks for the season ahead:

Catch a Broadway Show at the Straz

The Straz Center for the Performing Arts hosts performances year-round, satisfying all aspects of the performing arts, from dance to music to the theater. And they start the Fall season strong by bringing back their ultra-popular Broadway series! Opening November 1st is the London-musical hit Six, followed by the Grammy-winning Broadway sensation Hadestown

Visit the Tampa History Center

Also, this month, the Tampa History Center will be hosting Florida Conversations: Cuban Music and Dance. This event celebrates not only the arts but also the significant role that Cuban culture played in the development of Tampa. The flamenco-inspired dance troupe from the Columbia Restaurant makes a performance along with the beautiful sounds of Cuban music, which you often still hear around Tampa Bay.

Take in a Concert

Amelie Arena is more than just the home of the Tampa Bay Lightning. The arena also hosts some of the country’s hottest bands, with live performances almost weekly. This month Adam Sandler, Marc Anthony, and Reba McEntire will be hitting the famous Tampa stage.

See An Exhibit With a Message

Visit the Ocean Decade Exhibition at the Florida Aquarium! This exhibit is a showcase that raises awareness of the importance of our oceans and uses thought-provoking works of digital art to convey the message.

These events are just a glimpse into what the City of Tampa offers for arts and culture. So, make a plan to spend your weekends in Downtown Tampa to recharge with music, arts, and creative performances. We provide the connections that take you where you want to be!
