As an independent agency of the state, the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) owns, maintains, and operates four facilities within Hillsborough County: the Selmon Expressway, the Brandon Parkway, Meridian Avenue, and the Selmon Greenway.

All revenues collected on the Selmon Expressway stay here in Tampa and Hillsborough County, where we reinvest those dollars back into the community. We use our toll revenues to provide our region with a transportation system that provides regional connectivity to our residents and visitors.

The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) owns, maintains, and operates four facilities within Hillsborough County: the Selmon Expressway, the Brandon Parkway, Meridian Avenue, and the Selmon Greenway.

The Lee Roy Selmon Expressway is 15-mile all-electronic toll roadway that links west Hillsborough County through downtown Tampa to Brandon.

The Selmon Greenway, a 1.7 multimodal trail that runs east-west through downtown Tampa - mostly in the shade of the expressway - and connects with the City’s Riverwalk and our own Meridian Avenue Trail.

Meridian Avenue serves as an entrance and exit to the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway’s Reversible Express Lanes (REL) in downtown Tampa. The toll-free roadway helps connect the east and west side of downtown Tampa.

Brandon Parkway is a 3-mile toll-free parkway that feeds traffic on and off of the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway’s Reversible Express Lanes (REL), providing for easy commuting to downtown Tampa.

For easier commute and greater access to savings on the Selmon Expressway, THEA accepts the following toll savings programs in addition to SunPass:

  • EPass
  • LeeWay
  • PeachPass
  • NC QuickPass
  • E-ZPass
  • SunPass
