South Selmon Capacity

The South Selmon Capacity Project will address current and future congestion challenges, augment roadway safety and help keep cut-through traffic off Bayshore and other neighborhood roads.

THEA will increase the capacity of the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway by one lane, in each direction, over an approximate 4.5-mile span extending from the eastern and of the Selmon Extension to the six-lane section near the overpass at Whiting Street in Downtown Tampa.

In addition, THEA will enhance the lightning, landscaping, sidewalks, and paint at every underpass on the route. THEA has also committed to building sound walks on the enhance route. The expected timeline for construction is 2024-2028.
