Tampa Is Ranked One of the Best Dog Park Cities in the Nation

Take a walk in downtown Tampa, and you will see dogs walking with their owners and enjoying the sights. Tampa was recently dubbed as one of the top dog park cities in the nation! The city ranked fourth out of 93 U.S. cities based on dog park access, quality, and climate. The rankings also took into account the number of dog parks per 100,000 residents.

According to the study, here is the list of the top five dog park cities in the country:

  1. San Francisco, CA
  2. Henderson, NV
  3. Portland, OR
  4. Tampa, FL
  5. Las Vegas, NV

The Deputy John Kotfila, Jr. Memorial Dog Park along THEA’s Selmon Greenway is a prime example of the type of facilities that have helped Tampa rise to the top. Located under the shade of the Selmon Expressway, the park repurposed unused land into a spacious space for neighbors and furry friends to play and socialize. This community enhancement is equipped with top-of-the-line canine turf, which is safe for puppy paws, more durable, and requires less maintenance. The park even offers separate play areas for small and large dogs to keep them safe.

Our agency is also committed to providing wide sidewalk paths like the Selmon Greenway and along the Brandon Parkway for safe trails to enjoy on a dog walk. In addition, Tampa has dog parks spotted throughout the city, some even offering dog beaches for the complete Florida experience and to cool down from the heat.
