WE ARE MAKING THE SELMON GREENWAY GREEN!

THEA’s Board approves a $2.5 million budget for enhancements to the Selmon Greenway. As part of THEA’s ongoing commitment to the region, we are upgrading and enhancing the Selmon Greenway.

Earlier this week, THEA’s Board of Directors approved a $2.5 million dollar budget to enhance the Selmon Greenway and essentially make the Selmon Greenway Green! The funds will allow THEA to work on improving 8 main areas of the Selmon Greenway with more signage, increased safety abilities, more green space, and other improvements like outdoor sculptures and shade structures. We understand that Tampa is a world-class city that encourages walking, bike riding, skating and other healthy outdoor activities, and the Tampa-Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) is proud to play a role.

The Selmon Greenway is a 1.7 mile, 15-foot wide multi-use trail located under to the Selmon Expressway right-of-way. The Selmon Greenway completes a key connection from the Hillsborough River at the Riverwalk to just east of 19th Street within a larger, city-wide trails network that includes the Riverwalk, Bayshore Boulevard, Linear Park Trail and the McKay bay Trail. The Greenway provides a vital east-west connection across downtown. The Greenway will provide connections to many of downtown Tampa’s popular entertainment, educational, and business venues. It will also provide opportunities to increase park space and stormwater improvements. All of the trail will be readily accessible and meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The Selmon Greenway is a breath of fresh air in the heart of the city. #LoveYourWalk #LoveYourRide
