Greg Slater Named South Tampa Chamber Business Leader of the Year

The South Tampa Chamber has selected Greg Slater, Executive Director and CEO of the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA), as its 2025 Business Leader of the Year. This award is one of The South Tampa Chamber’s highest honors, recognizing outstanding leadership, business excellence, and community impact. Each year, the award is presented to an individual who exemplifies vision, integrity, and a commitment to making South Tampa a thriving place to live, work, and grow. Slater’s recognition is a testament to his transformative leadership and visionary approach to infrastructure in the Tampa Bay region.

Since taking the helm of THEA in 2022, Slater has redefined what it means to lead a transportation agency. Under his leadership, THEA is executing a bold capital plan, which includes the South Selmon Capacity Project and a large investment in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to improve traffic flow and safety. His efforts have positioned THEA not just as a tolling agency, but as a forward-thinking driver of community connection.

Slater’s influence extends far beyond the expressway. He has served on multiple boards, including the Tampa Bay Chamber, the Hillsborough County Transportation Planning Organization (TPO), and TEAMFL, and volunteers his time to mentor future infrastructure professionals.

Through a people-first mindset and a passion for reimagining infrastructure, Slater is building more than roads. He’s building trust, opportunity, and a stronger, more connected Tampa Bay. Congratulations Greg!
