Downtown Tampa Holiday Adventures Await: Get there on the Selmon Greenway

Take advantage of Tampa’s warm winter climate and get outside this holiday season with a Selmon Greenway bike riding adventure! The Selmon Greenway is a 1.9-mile urban trail that links the neighborhoods of Ybor City and Channelside with the riverfront area of Downtown Tampa. Here are our top three places to explore for holiday fun near the Selmon Greenway:

Ice Skating and Hot Chocolate at the Winter Village

Although Tampa doesn’t experience snow, that doesn’t mean there aren’t winter activities to enjoy. Use the Selmon Greenway to link up with the Winter Village in Curtis Hixon Park to go ice skating from November 19th-January 2nd. There is a holiday shopping village with seven boutiques featuring local makers for artisan, unique gifts, along with holiday cocktails and hot chocolates at the ringside café. Curtis Hixon Park also has activities for the younger ones. The Choo Choo is first come first serve and takes the rider through the park enjoying the lights and music of Christmas time.

Snow & A Hot Toddy Bar at Sparkman Wharf

Starting December 1st, Sparkman Wharf will become a winter wonderland. The lawn at Sparkman will turn into slopes where there will be swings transformed into ski lifts, props for Instagram photos, bonfires, entertainment, etc. On Thursdays (December 2, 9, and 16), Sparkman will be opening up their Hot Toddy Bar that is a pop-up bar with all the festive drinks.

Ybor City Santa Fest Parade

On December 4th, Ybor City is hosting a Santa Fest Parade. Families gather for the one-mile-long parade route and listen to the holiday sounds and view the festive sights. The decorated floats will include magical characters, bands and drum lines, Mini Coopers, and more. There will be arts and crafts, bounce houses, rock walls, and other holiday festivities for the kids to choose from. And most importantly Santa and his elves will be coming to town!

The Selmon Greenway is well lit with pocket parks, art, and benches to help our pedestrian and bike riders safely connect to all that downtown Tampa has to offer. Happy holidays!
